CURRENT ISSUES AFFECTING TLWA COMMUNITY

Petition to the Town Board of Supervisors of Three Lakes, Wisconsin
to Undertake Discussion of and Enactment of Ordinances
for the Protection of the Three Lakes Chain Waters
from Weighted Ballast Boats and Artificial Wake Enhancement Activities
Wakeboarder on wave generated by wakeboat-Boats-Nautique

The regulation of Wake Boats in the waters of the state of Wisconsin is being actively pursued by local communities in that a total of 56 statutes have been approved.  Wisconsin is the only state in the union that permits local control of waterway issues. Some jurisdictions have elected to wait for the State to decide how all waters will be controlled. It is believed by some that the State will have a hard time passing legislation because the two sides of the issue are too far apart.  At issue is local control of regulations vs. State mandates. The Boat Industry wants local control rescinded and the land owners want to maintain control over the use of their waterways.

This petition is meant to encourage the Three Lakes Town Board to move from their position of wait and see to adding this topic to their agenda for public discussion and eventually enact legislation.

Petition to the Town Board of Supervisors of Three Lakes, Wisconsin to Undertake Discussion of and Enactment of Ordinances for the Protection of the Three Lakes Chain Waters from Weighted Ballast Boats and Artificial Wake Enhancement Activities

The undersigned, as landowners with waterfront properties on the Three Lakes Chain interested in protecting the value of their respective properties and/or as residents or citizens otherwise interested in protecting and preserving the waters of the Three Lakes Chain and associated waters and contiguous lands and all users thereof, hereby petition the Town Board of Supervisors of Three Lakes, Wisconsin to enact ordinances to protect said waters, property and users from potential harm from artificial wake enhancement activities on said Chain, in line with over 50 (fifty) other Wisconsin communities which have passed such ordinances, and to schedule hearings on such ordinances as soon as practicable.
